The best lenses for corner to corner sharpness are called prime lenses. Primes are lenses that have the clearest and sharpest image; they are easier to design than the zoom lens and have larger apertures. Wide apertures lenses will be sharper than those with smaller ones.

Three cameras stand out above the rest when it comes to clarity Canon, Leica and Pentax are consistently working on making the best quality lens at the best affordable price. Even though these lenses are exceptional, there are some techniques you should always use while photographing. Always have a solid tripod you can hang weight in the middle of it to keep it from making any type of movement. The all-important cable release, it takes such little pressure to make the camera shake and always check the lens for image stabilization.

Photographers of all ranks have always ask the question, do I have the sharpest lens possible? When buying a lens you get what you pay for, so do your research and get the sharpest lens that you can afford. Remember though, brand names are always going to be sharper than third party lenses, if you want the finest lens buy the manufacturer’s best.

Over the last two decades, consumers have been conflicted between purchasing DSLR and compact digitals. The confusing factor stems from determining whether an individual photographer wants to place more value on portability or versatility. With a DSLR, photographers have countless options for expansion and improvement of their shooting equipment. However, if a photographer chooses the convenience of a compact digital by carrying the camera in their pocket at all times then they sacrifice the ability to upgrade the lens.I found some more information here. This was the dilemma before the invention of Micro 4:3.

Now, digital photographers can take advantage of the conveniences of both camera styles. Advantages like being able to purchase higher quality lenses at later times in order to slowly grow one’s camera quality and options. There is also the choice of retaining lenses of multiple focal lengths in order to be ready for any shooting situation. Some photographers even take advantage of purchasing a prime focal length lens for fast reaction shooting and a super-zoom lens for situational versatility.

Interchangeable lenses allow the camera to be expanded and customized to a particular photographer’s particular needs. Now with Micro 4:3 digital cameras, all photographers can reap the advantages of changeable lenses without sacrificing portability.

The use of a filter on your camera lens can often make the difference between an average image and an excellent one. It this digital age, many images can be fixed by editing software, but there are still a number of filters that are very useful and contribute to the excellence of your picture. Most filters screw on to the front of the lens and come in a variety of sizes. There are also square filters that fit into a holder that attaches to the lens.

One of the most basic filters is the UV filter. This is an ultraviolet filter which cuts down on the invisible rays which cause haziness and lack of sharpness. Many photographers keep UV filters on their lenses just to protect the front glass from damage.

A skylight filter will also cut down on UV rays. While a UV filter is colorless, a skylight filter is pinkish. It will eliminate the blue cast that sometimes occurs when you take photographs outside under a clear, blue sky.

To reduce reflections on non-metallic surfaces, such as glass or water, you will need a polarizing filter. It also increases contrast and color saturation. Most polarizing filters are circular, which means that the outer ring can be rotated to increase or decrease the polarization. It is very difficult to create these effects post-production, so even in this digital age, the polarizing filter is a very useful tool.

The neutral density filter is available in a variety of strengths. It reduces the exposure so you can vary the aperture or shutter speed. This can be very useful if you are photographing running water, or want to minimize the depth of field. As you experiment with this filter, you will find that it can enhance your creativity and help raise the quality of your photography.

One of the most visually exciting places can be found while scuba diving in tropical waters. Under the watery surface can lie miles of undulating flora and fauna. The coral reef is one of the best places to find abundant life swimming, crawling, and waving in the ocean currents. When going on a scuba diving or snorkeling adventure in the ocean what is seen does not only have to remain in the memory. These special under water adventures deserve to be captured so they can be enjoyed time and time again.

There are great technologies that have developed undersea point and shoot cameras as well as waterproof video cameras with the ability to capture and record minutes or even hours of undersea footage. These waterproof devices allow users to shoot video and snap pictures of underwater scenes. The quality and resolution of the video and film is just as good as any above water camera and is made to be vividly clear. Taking a camera like this on a deep sea adventure is a great way to capture a special moment in time that can be played back and shown to other people or watched any time the desire strikes.

Understanding the differences between point and shoot cameras versus SLR and DSLR cameras sounds more complicated than it actually is. The major difference between these two groups is derived from the fact that one has a permanently fixed lens and the other has the option of attaching any of the range of compatible lenses.

Point and shoot cameras can also be referred to as pocket digitals, compact digitals and ultracompacts. These cameras do not typically have a moving shutter or complicated optical systems because they are streamlined to promote small size over heightened image quality. The pictures from a point and shoot will typically be of 3:2 ratio captured through a 4x optical zoom lens. They are designed to be convenient and easy to use.

DSLR and SLR cameras use a moving shutter and a mirror to record the same image that is seen through the viewfinder by the photographer. The digital version and film versions have the same basic configurations with the sensor being the only difference. Behind the shutter of a DSLR is a digital sensor that records an image instead of film. The advantage over point and shoots is the versatility of using various lenses for particular circumstances.
